WOW.

An incredible wedding day from start to finish. I was lucky enough to stay in one of the luxurious lodges at Upton Lakes right next to the Upton Barn Wedding Venue the night before. This meant I was suitably refreshed and ready for the day of shooting after spending the evening a hot tub in the grounds – such a well kitted-out venue. One of my favourite parts of the day is the morning preparations; nerves, excitement and expectation make for a great mix when photographing people. Helen’s hair was done by Hollie from Hair@One based in Exeter, and her make-up was undertaken by the groom’s aunt. My brother Ben second-shot for me on this occasion; he had the pleasure of capturing the gents getting ready in Exeter before heading out for a drink at the Magdalen Chapter. Great morning; the sun was shining and everyone seemed very calm and collected. 

The ceremony was at St Mary the Virgin’s Church in Willand. A beautiful church with heaps of character, set back from a quaint village. The stunning Upton Barn offered the perfect reception venue, an absolute gem hidden near Cullumpton in Devon. Helen and Steve are very chilled out couple with a wedding party to boot so this recipe tends to not disappoint.
